This Privacy Policy explains how ALERTZ Inc. and its affiliates, subsidiaries, officers, employees, contractors, and service providers collectively referred to as "ALERTZ," "we," "us," or "our" collect, use, store, protect, disclose, and retain information when you access or use the ALERTZ mobile application, website, platform, software, alerts, notifications, content submission tools, location-based features, reporting tools, and related services collectively referred to as the "Service."
ALERTZ is built around a simple principle: community safety without surveillance. Our goal is to help people become aware of safety-related incidents in their neighborhoods and surrounding communities while minimizing personal data collection and protecting user privacy.
By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, you should not use the Service.
ALERTZ is designed to limit the amount of personal information we collect. We do not design the Service to identify you by your real-world identity, track your movements, sell your data, or create advertising profiles.
Our privacy commitments include:
ALERTZ is intended only for users who are 18 years of age or older.
You may not create an account, access, use, post content, comment, submit reports, upload media, or otherwise use the Service if you are under 18 years old.
By using ALERTZ, you represent and warrant that:
If we learn that a user is under 18, we may suspend, restrict, or delete the account and remove associated personal information, subject to legal, safety, security, and fraud-prevention requirements.
ALERTZ is intentionally designed to avoid collecting direct personal identifiers where possible.
We do not intentionally require or collect the following for ordinary user registration:
ALERTZ does not ask users to prove their real-world identity for ordinary access to the Service. However, certain optional, future, administrative, legal, premium, safety, or abuse-prevention functions may require additional information. If such features are introduced, we will provide appropriate notice and update this Privacy Policy where required.
Although ALERTZ minimizes data collection, certain information is necessary to operate a secure and functional safety alert platform.
When you create or use an ALERTZ account, we may collect:
This information is used to operate your account, display your contributions, enforce platform rules, and protect the Service from abuse.
When you submit content to ALERTZ, we collect and store that content. User Content may include:
Any information you voluntarily include in a post, report, comment, image, video, or other submission may become visible to other users depending on the feature and your submission. You should not include your real name, phone number, address, private information, or the personal information of others in User Content unless you have a lawful basis and understand that it may be displayed or used as described in this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service.
When you upload photos or videos, media files may contain embedded metadata, such as GPS coordinates, camera information, timestamps, or device details. ALERTZ is designed to strip or remove embedded metadata from uploaded media before storage or display where technically feasible. However, no metadata removal process is guaranteed to be perfect in every circumstance. You should avoid uploading content that contains sensitive information, visible addresses, license plates, faces, minors, documents, or other identifying details unless the content is lawful, necessary, and appropriate for a safety-related report.
ALERTZ uses location-related information to provide relevant neighborhood safety alerts. Depending on your permissions and device settings, we may process location data to:
ALERTZ's core privacy design is that precise GPS coordinates are not displayed to other users. Instead, location is generalized, blurred, snapped, or converted into privacy-safe descriptions such as "Near [area]" or similar approximate location text. We do not use location data to build a persistent location history for advertising purposes, we do not sell location data, and we do not provide other users with your exact coordinates.
We may collect limited technical information necessary to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Service, including:
To protect users and the Service, we may collect or process information related to suspicious account activity, fraud patterns, spam behavior, repeated harmful content, policy violations, abuse reports, device or network signals, and blocked, restricted, or disabled accounts. This information is used only to protect the Service, users, children, communities, and the integrity of ALERTZ.
If you contact us directly, we may collect the information you provide, such as your name (if provided), email address, message content, support request details, attachments, and information needed to respond to your request. This information is used to respond to inquiries, provide support, investigate issues, enforce our policies, and comply with legal obligations.
ALERTZ uses information for the following purposes:
We do not use your information to sell behavioral advertising profiles, use your precise location to target advertisements, or design ALERTZ to identify or track users across unrelated apps or websites.
Location is central to the usefulness of ALERTZ, but ALERTZ is intentionally designed to protect precise location privacy. When location permissions are enabled, ALERTZ may process your location to determine which local topic, neighborhood, or alert area is relevant to you. However, ALERTZ does not show your precise GPS location to other users.
Location-related safeguards may include:
Location features are intended for safety awareness, not tracking, surveillance, stalking, harassment, or real-time monitoring of individuals. Users are prohibited from using ALERTZ to expose, identify, follow, target, threaten, or harass any person or group.
When you submit User Content to ALERTZ, you understand that such content may be displayed to other users, used to generate alerts, included in local feeds, moderated, summarized, categorized, or otherwise used to provide and improve the Service.
You retain any rights you may have in User Content, subject to the rights granted to ALERTZ under this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service. By submitting User Content, you grant ALERTZ a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable, transferable license to host, store, reproduce, process, display, publish, distribute, modify, adapt, create derivative works from, analyze, moderate, translate, summarize, and otherwise use the User Content for purposes related to operating, improving, promoting, protecting, and providing the Service.
This license allows ALERTZ to display alerts and reports to users, moderate and review content, generate safety summaries, improve classification and safety features, investigate abuse or harmful activity, and preserve reports for safety, legal, compliance, or operational reasons.
You are responsible for ensuring that your User Content is lawful, accurate to the best of your knowledge, respectful, and does not violate the rights, privacy, or safety of others.
ALERTZ may review, restrict, remove, label, demote, preserve, or escalate User Content if we believe it may:
ALERTZ may use a combination of automated systems, manual review, community reporting, trusted reviewers, or third-party tools to support moderation and safety enforcement. We may take action against accounts that misuse the Service, including warnings, content removal, feature restrictions, suspension, termination, device blocking, or escalation to appropriate authorities where required or permitted by law.
ALERTZ takes the safety of children seriously and is committed to helping keep the Service free from child sexual abuse, child sexual exploitation, grooming, trafficking, solicitation, coercion, and any content or behavior that harms or endangers minors.
Although ALERTZ is intended only for users who are 18 years of age or older, users may not use the Service to create, upload, share, request, promote, describe, facilitate, or normalize any form of child sexual abuse or exploitation.
ALERTZ strictly prohibits:
If ALERTZ becomes aware of content or activity involving suspected child sexual abuse or exploitation, we may take appropriate action, including removing or restricting content, disabling or suspending accounts, preserving relevant records, reporting suspected violations to law enforcement or child protection organizations, and cooperating with valid legal requests.
Users may report suspected child safety violations through in-app reporting tools or by contacting: admin@alertz-app.com
ALERTZ does not sell or rent personal information. We may disclose information only in limited circumstances, including the following:
We may share limited information with vendors, contractors, cloud infrastructure providers, security providers, moderation tools, notification providers, database providers, hosting providers, or analytics providers that help us operate the Service. These providers are authorized to process information only as necessary to provide services to ALERTZ.
We may disclose information if we believe disclosure is required or appropriate to comply with law, regulation, subpoena, court order, legal process, or government request; to respond to lawful requests from law enforcement; to protect the rights, safety, property, or security of ALERTZ, users, children, or the public; or to investigate fraud, abuse, security threats, or illegal activity.
We may disclose limited information where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to prevent, detect, or respond to immediate threats to life or safety, child exploitation or abuse, violence or credible threats, fraud or security incidents, or harm to ALERTZ, users, or the public.
We may share aggregated, de-identified, or anonymized information that does not reasonably identify individual users for research, public safety awareness, community insights, service improvement, reporting, or partnership purposes.
If ALERTZ is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or corporate transaction, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to appropriate protections and this Privacy Policy or a successor policy.
ALERTZ retains information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including to operate the Service, protect users, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and maintain safety and integrity. Retention periods may vary based on the type of information:
You may request deletion of personal information linked to your account through the Data & Privacy Dashboard in the app, where available, or by contacting us at: admin@alertz-app.com
Upon receiving a valid deletion request, ALERTZ will take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify personal information linked to your account, subject to the limitations below. We may retain certain information where necessary to:
Deletion of account-related personal information may not automatically remove User Content that has been submitted to the Service, especially where such content has become part of community safety records, public alerts, moderation records, or legal records. Where appropriate, ALERTZ may de-identify, anonymize, or disconnect User Content from your account instead of deleting the content entirely.
ALERTZ uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, and disclosure. These safeguards may include:
No system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your device, account access, and any credentials or authentication methods associated with your use of ALERTZ. If you believe your account or information has been compromised, contact us immediately at: admin@alertz-app.com
Depending on your device, account status, and location, you may have choices regarding:

Depending on where you live, you may have certain privacy rights under applicable law. These may include the right to:
ALERTZ does not sell personal information. To exercise applicable rights, contact us at: admin@alertz-app.com
We may need to verify your request before responding. Because ALERTZ uses pseudonymous accounts and intentionally avoids collecting direct identity information, we may not always be able to verify identity or connect a request to a specific account unless you provide sufficient account-related information.
If you are a California resident, you may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act. These may include the right to know, access, correct, delete, and limit certain uses of personal information, as applicable.

ALERTZ may process information in the United States and other countries where we, our service providers, or infrastructure partners operate. By using the Service, you understand that information may be transferred to, stored in, or processed in countries that may have privacy laws different from those in your country of residence. Where required, ALERTZ will use reasonable safeguards designed to protect information consistent with applicable privacy laws.
The Service may rely on or link to third-party services, such as cloud hosting, app stores, notification services, maps, device operating systems, or external websites. This Privacy Policy does not govern the privacy practices of third parties that we do not control. Your use of third-party services may be subject to their own terms and privacy policies. You should review those policies before using third-party services.
If ALERTZ introduces advertising, sponsorships, partnerships, or monetization features in the future, we will do so in a manner consistent with our privacy-first mission and will update this Privacy Policy as required.
ALERTZ may receive requests for information from law enforcement, courts, regulators, or government agencies. We review such requests and may disclose information where we believe disclosure is required by law, legally valid, or necessary to protect safety, rights, property, children, users, communities, or the public.
Because ALERTZ is designed to minimize personal data collection, we may not have direct identifying information about users. We may also preserve information where legally required or where we believe preservation is necessary for safety, legal, or security reasons.
You should not submit sensitive personal information through ALERTZ unless it is necessary for a lawful safety-related report and you understand the potential visibility and risks. Sensitive information may include:
ALERTZ may remove, restrict, generalize, or moderate content that exposes sensitive information or creates a privacy or safety risk.

Misuse of the Service may result in content removal, account suspension, account termination, reporting to authorities, or other enforcement action.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our Service, technology, legal obligations, safety practices, platform requirements, or business operations. When we make material changes, we may notify users through the app, website, or other appropriate means.
The "Last Updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy indicates when it was last revised. Your continued use of the Service after an updated Privacy Policy becomes effective means you acknowledge the updated policy.
